Claire Koile feels like she's taking the right path with her decision to attend College of Saint Mary next year.
Koile signed her letter of intent Wednesday to continue her education and softball career at CSM in the fall. The daughter of William Jr. and Amanda Koile plans to study occupational therapy at College of Saint Mary.
"I chose CSM because the environment is so welcoming and I instantly felt at home the moment I stepped on campus," Koile said. "CSM has the program that is perfect for me and I was blessed to get an offer to play softball under the direction of an amazing head coach.
"CSM did a great job in walking me through all they have to offer and what would be the right path for me."
Koile is currently a senior at Douglas County West Community Schools. The 5-10 infielder played both softball and basketball for four years, participated in cheer for three years and did track & field one year.
During that time she has earned all-conference second team honors in softball, NSAA academic all-state recognition and several team awards.
Koile says her favorite sports hero is Haley Cruze and that her greatest sports moment to date was "hitting my first high school home run and having my grandparents and special friends there to see it." Outside of softball she also enjoys crafting, fishing, swimming and being outside.
College of Saint Mary Softball Coach Carolyn Todd Bray is looking forward to having Koile on the Flames' squad next season.
"Every time I interact with Claire I am more and more excited to have her on our team next year," Bray said. "First of all, she's a gem – just an amazing young lady that everyone speaks so highly of. She's a strong student and comes from a great family.
"On the softball side, I truly think she's just starting to reach her potential. She had a great summer season and a solid high school season. I think she's just starting to see how good she can be. I know she's going to work hard and do what she can to help the team."
