WASHINGTON, D.C. – On May 2 2023, U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE) released the following statement in response to the announcement the Biden administration would send 1,500 U.S. troops to the southern border ahead of Title 42 ending on May 11:

“The federal government has a responsibility to end the human and drug trafficking crisis President Biden’s failed policies created on our southern border. The more than six million illegal immigrant crossings since he took office have overwhelmed border states and the law enforcement on the front lines. The end of Title 42 will only make that worse. While sending additional resources is welcome news, it is only part of the solution. This crisis is killing Americans across the country. It’s time for President Biden to get serious, work with Congress, and do what is necessary to get our border under control.”
