Another .400 Night

The seventh-ranked Nebraska Kearney volleyball team moved to 52-7 all-time against Emporia State after a sweep of the Hornets (-11, -16, -15) Friday night in Kansas.

This was the MIAA opener for both. The Lopers (10-0) remain unbeaten while E-State falls to 2-7.

UNK's offense continues to hum along, this time coming in at .409 with 44 kills. Hitting over .400 for the third time this fall, the Lopers got kills from six different players led by outsides Emersen Cyza (Alliance) and Asha Regier (Newton, Kan.). Both had 10 apiece with Regier hitting .435 (10-0-23).

Next, middle Bailee Sterling (Kearney) had nine kills, three blocks and hit .667 with position mate Fallon Stutheit (Johnson) at four kills in nine swings. Finally, right side Lauren Taubenheim (Lincoln Pius) recorded nine kills, 10 digs and was perfect in eight serve receive chances.

In the back row, libero Jensen Rowse (Minden) had a match-high 15 digs and was perfect in 22 serve receive attempts. Finally, setter Peyton Neff (North Platte) had 36 assists, nine digs, two kills, a block and UNK's lone ace.

Emporia was led by reserve Zuzanna Buchnajzer (seven kills, .357 pct.) and Shelby Ebert (10 kills, seven digs and two blocks).

Things get tougher tomorrow when the Lopers are at No. 2 Washburn at 2 p.m. The Ichabods (9-0) got past an improved Fort Hays State squad (nine) in four sets.
