No. 3 Omaha Headed to Summit League Quarterfinals

Omaha closed the regular season with a tie at Kansas City and a win at Oral Roberts to secure the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament. It marks the third straight season the Mavericks have made the tournament. Omaha heads to Brookings, South Dakota to take on the No. 6 seeded North Dakota. The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks played to a scoreless draw earlier this season.

QUICK KICKS

• Omaha earned its third straight trip to the Summit League and fifth overall following a 1-1 draw at Kansas City. A 1-0 shutout at Oral Roberts clinched the third seed.

• Sophia Green tied the match vs. the Roos, while Marissa Gohr netted her third goal of the season vs. ORU for the game winner.

• Gohr leads Omaha with seven points this season on three goals and an assist. Green has six points with two goals and two assists.

• In league play, the Mavericks are tied fourth with 3.67 points per game. Their 13 assists is tied third.

• Green averaged 2.44 shots per game in conference action, which ranks fourth among the league's players.

• Five Mavericks earned all-league recognition Thursday morning. Regan Zimmers was named first team, while Grace Ostergaard claimed second team honors for the third straight season. Jordyn West is an honorable mention, and Emma Konsmo and Lindsey Birch are newcomer selections.

• It marks Zimmers' second all-league honor, Ostergaard's third, West's second, and Konsmo and Birch's first.

• Last season, the Mavericks earned the No. 3 seed and played No. 2 South Dakota State in the semifinals. In the 2020 season, Omaha advanced to the championship match after downing SDSU in PKs. It marked the second championship appearance for the Mavericks.

SCOUTING THE NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING HAWKS

For the first time since 2019, North Dakota returns to postseason play. The Fighting Hawks finished the regular season campaign 7-8-4 overall and 3-4-2 overall. They posted a 1-0 shutout in the finale vs. South Dakota. UND also has league wins against St. Thomas and Western Illinois.

FIGHTING HAWKS TO WATCH

• Hannah Olson was named All-Summit Second Team. She paces the Fighting Hawks offense with three goals and one assist. She scored in back-to-back games vs. Western Illinois and St. Thomas for a Player of the Week nod earlier this season.

• Sarah McCracken earned All-Newcomer Team honors. She played nearly ever minute of league play and notched an assist on Olson's game-winner against the Leathernecks. She has three total goals this season.

• Goalkeeper Madi Livingston also picked up second team honors. She has seven shutouts this season, which matches the program's record for shutouts in a single-season. Her 92 saves ranks second in the league and 19th in the NCAA.

SERIES HISTORY

Omaha leads the all-time series 18-5-4. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in the league opener earlier this season. Despite the tie, the Mavericks outshot the Fighting Hawks, 20-1.
