Leehy Excited to Sign Brown to Swim for Flames

Kylee Brown felt comfortable making her decision to continue her education and swimming career at College of Saint Mary.

Part of the reason why was because of CSM Head Coach Mykenzie Leehy.

"I chose CSM because the coaches went to the same high school I did, swam for the same coach and the three of us all went through the same club team," Brown said. "The campus is close to home which allows me to still do what I love, but also be close enough to home for my family and friends to come visit and watch. The class sizes are much smaller than a university, they have a great range of undergraduate programs and the campus seems like the perfect fit for me.

"I am excited to be a part of the Flame family."

The daughter of Carol Gupton and Wendee Brown is currently a senior at Lewis Central High School. She has participated in swimming and basketball all four years there and also played softball for one year.

Brown has had a lot of great accomplishments including a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke at the Iowa High School State Swim Meet in 2020, a 10th place finish in the event at state in 2021 and a 13th place finish at state in the 100 freestyle in 2021. Brown currently holds both the school and pool records for the 100 breaststroke at Lewis Central.

Outside of swimming, Brown enjoys fishing, playing pickleball, eating ice cream and spending time with family and friends. She considers both Katie Ledecky and Annie Lazor her favorite sports heroes and says her second-place finish at the state meet was her greatest sports moment to date.

Leehy is thrilled to have Brown joining the Flames next season.

"Kylee is a great addition to our program in the pool and classroom – and as a person," Leehy said. "Our current team has a vision of where we see our program going and Kylee fits into that perfectly.

"We are excited to welcome Kylee and to continue to build this program."
