There was plenty of activities taking place on Saturday, January 28, in the Al Wheeler Activity Center (AWAC), with the Peru State National Alumni (NAA) Chili Feed being the highlight of the day. This was the 13th annual hosting of the event on the Campus of a Thousand Oaks.
The activities begunn with a Bobcat Women’s basketball game against Graceland University (Iowa) beginning at 2 p.m. A men’s game with the Yellowjackets began at approximately 4 p.m.
The annual alumni chili feed start at 2:30 p.m. A free donation was accepted.
“The National Alumni Association is proud to welcome alumni and Peru State supporters to campus for the annual Chili Feed,” said Kim Vrtiska, NAA Co-Chair. “We hope to see a large crowd for food, fun and basketball.”
During both halftimes, the Fantastic Flyers of Gary’s Tumbling of Glenwood, Iowa, perform. If you have not seen the Fantastic Flyers, you had a treat coming as the team presents a show of acrobatics and tumbling.
Between the two basketball games, the Peru State athletic department recognized student-athletes from the fall sports who received both athletic and/or academic honors.
There was be several fundraisers taking place that afternoon. The Peru State Collegiate FBLA had split-the-pot raffle which help defray costs for its members to attend the upcoming state leadership conference. In addition, Peru State’s Peru Association of Student Athletes (PASA) was selling old jerseys and gear.
The Cat Cave (campus spirit shop) was also be in the AWAC so alumni and fans can purchase some new Bobcat gear.
The Peru State Admissions Office was be hosting a Winter Tour and Tailgate event in conjunction with the chili feed. The event included a tour of campus and an overview of the College.
