Governor Jim Pillen has announced that applications are now being accepted for the position of Douglas County Election Commissioner following the resignation of Brian Kruse. Kruse is leaving the post to pursue a private sector opportunity after serving in the role for ten years.

Governor Pillen expressed gratitude for Kruse’s work, stating, “Brian has always maintained high standards for his office and ensuring the integrity of local, general and special elections. I appreciate his years of public service and the level of excellence that he brought to such a critical role.”

In his resignation letter, Kruse wrote, “It has been an honor and a privilege for the last decade to serve the voters of Douglas County in administering fair, accurate and impartial elections.”

According to Nebraska state law, election commissioners are appointed by the governor in counties with populations over 100,000. This applies to Douglas, Sarpy, and Lancaster counties.

Interested candidates can submit their applications through the Governor’s website at https://governor.nebraska.gov/boards-commissions-open-positions or send them in writing to: Office of the Governor, P.O. Box 94848, Lincoln, NE 68509-4848. The application deadline is November 26 at 5:00 p.m.
