Congressman Adrian Smith pushes for Right to Work laws, as Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District U.S. representative co-sponsored U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop’s H.Res.620 on Sept. 20.

“The Democrats’ plan to include these radical provisions that force workers to fund unions and their pet political activities in their $3.5 trillion socialist spending spree is an appalling overreach,” Bishop stated in his press release.

A Right to Work law, according to Keystone Today, is that which prohibits companies and unions to compel union membership as an employment condition.

"My resolution will ensure that it doesn’t happen, protecting workers’ rights across the country,” Bishop said.

More than 25 states have these laws on the books.

“States that have enacted a right to work law have seen significant gains between June 2019 and June 2021,” Keystone Today reported.

The Allegheny Institute for Public Policy noted that the passing of right-to-work legislation was seen to be an effective tool in the economic recovery of states that have implemented it.

Smith has also fought for tax relief for Nebraska families, agriculture producers, and small business owners. He also co-chairs the House Biofuels Caucus and serves as a ranking member of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures.

He was first elected to Congress in 2006.
