The Judicial Nominating Commission for the Second District of the Nebraska Supreme Court has forwarded the names of Patrick Guinan and Derek Vaughn, both from Omaha, to Governor Jim Pillen for consideration as associate justice. This action follows the retirement of Justice Lindsey Miller-Lerman.

The Nebraska Supreme Court is composed of a chief justice and six associate justices. The chief justice serves the state as a whole, while each associate justice represents an individual judicial district. The Second Judicial District includes part of Douglas County.

"Judicial Nominating Commission Advances Names for Consideration as Supreme Court Associate Justice," stated the commission in its announcement.

The next step will be for Governor Pillen to review the nominations and make his selection for the vacancy.
