U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and chair of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, issued a statement following the Senate's approval of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The legislation includes provisions that Fischer advocated for, aimed at enhancing national security and supporting military personnel.

Fischer emphasized the current global environment, stating, "Right now, our adversaries are sharing weapons, resources, and a common goal: to weaken the United States and dismantle our influence around the globe. I’m proud that this year’s National Defense Authorization Act meets this moment by investing in deterrence and our brave men and women in uniform."

She highlighted several areas where she contributed to securing measures within the NDAA. These include efforts to strengthen nuclear deterrence capabilities, protect defense spectrum operations, improve missile defense systems, and enhance preparedness for mass casualty incidents. Fischer also noted specific benefits for Nebraska, particularly investments directed toward Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha.

"I successfully fought to secure important provisions to boost our nuclear deterrence, protect defense spectrum, strengthen our missile defense systems, and improve responses to mass casualty events. I’m also pleased to have delivered critical investments for Nebraska. Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha plays a crucial role in defending our nation, which is why I used my role as a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee to secure wins for U.S. Strategic Command, the 557th Weather Wing, and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency—all located at Offutt," Fischer said.

She concluded her remarks by reaffirming Congress's responsibility regarding national security: "The first duty of Congress is to defend the nation. With the passage of this bill, Congress is doing its part to equip our troops with the tools and resources they need to carry out their mission."

Further details about key provisions secured by Fischer can be found on her official website.
