A series of listening sessions in February will allow for public input on the search for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s next chancellor.

The sessions, which are open to the university community and public, will be moderated by AGB Search, an executive firm hired to assist with the process. The sessions will be used to gather feedback on the desired qualities of the next chancellor, and opportunities and challenges facing the university as it looks to its next chapter. Feedback from the sessions will inform the development of a leadership profile that will be used to advertise the chancellorship and recruit a pool of candidates.

While many of the listening sessions are targeted to specific stakeholder groups, all are open to all members of the public. Individuals are encouraged to attend whichever session(s) best fits their schedules.

“These listening sessions are a vital part of the search process,” said Ted Carter, president of the University of Nebraska system. “We’re looking for the very best person to lead Nebraska’s flagship university into the future, and the feedback and ideas of every person who cares about UNL will be invaluable in helping us find that leader. I sincerely hope all members of the UNL community will take this valuable opportunity to make their voices heard.”

• Feb. 9, 9:30-10:45 a.m., staff listening session, Nebraska Union, Swanson Auditorium.

• Feb. 9, 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m., student listening session, Nebraska Union, Swanson Auditorium.

• Feb. 9, 1-2:15 p.m., student listening session, Nebraska East Union, Great Plains Room A.

After seven years in the role, Chancellor Ronnie Green announced on Dec. 20 plans to retire in June.

Carter is reviewing nominations for members of a search advisory committee, which will assist with the search. Details about the search committee will be announced.
