The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has released the 11th edition of its quadrennial report, "Small Business Problems and Priorities." This report, first published in 1982 and issued every four years by the NFIB Research Center, is based on a nationwide survey of small business owners. It provides insights into 75 issues impacting Main Street businesses.

Holly Wade, Executive Director of the NFIB Research Center, commented on the current situation for small business owners: “For the last four years, small business owners have struggled with historic inflation, tax pressures at all levels of government, and uncertainty of what’s going to happen next.” She added that the survey helps highlight issues affecting the sector and emphasizes where lawmakers should focus their efforts to support Main Street businesses. Despite challenges such as rising costs and taxes, Wade noted that small business owners continue to strive for growth and job creation.

Ryan McIntosh, NFIB State Director for Nebraska, specifically addressed concerns faced by small business owners in Nebraska. He stated: “The NFIB report highlights the significant challenges facing Nebraska small business owners. Rising costs, tax burdens, and economic uncertainty underscore the need for legislative action to support small businesses.” McIntosh stressed the importance of addressing these issues to bolster Main Street and promote economic growth throughout Nebraska.
