The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent advocacy group for small businesses, recently organized a press conference on Capitol Hill as part of its 2024 Small Business Tax Deduction Summit. The event featured NFIB President Brad Close, Senator Steve Daines from Montana, and several small business owners advocating for the Main Street Tax Certainty Act. This legislation aims to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent for America's 33 million small businesses.

Candice Price, a Nebraska resident and NFIB member who co-owns Home Team Auto Sales, participated in the conference. She highlighted how the small business tax deduction has benefited enterprises in Nebraska. Price emphasized the potential consequences if the 20% Small Business Deduction expires, affecting Main Street businesses, their employees, communities, and the broader U.S. economy.

Candice Price stated: “Small Businesses like ours are the foundation of the American economy. The 20% Small Business Deduction has enabled us to be able to grow our business…expand, buy equipment, and now it is enabling us to hire. If this Deduction goes away, and prices continue to climb, it can literally be the difference between a small business staying open or closing its doors forever. Congress has already given the permanent tax relief to big businesses; they must do the same for the 30 million small businesses in America.”

Price's full remarks can be accessed online.

The NFIB encourages citizens to contact their elected officials to prevent what they describe as a significant tax increase on small businesses.
