The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) recently held a press conference on Capitol Hill as part of its 2024 Small Business Tax Deduction Summit. Key figures participating in the event included NFIB President Brad Close, Senator Steve Daines, and several small business owners, who advocated for the passing of the Main Street Tax Certainty Act. If enacted, the law would make permanent the 20% Small Business Deduction, which is currently crucial to approximately 33 million small businesses across the nation.
Among the speakers was Nebraska native and NFIB member Candice Price, who is also the co-owner of Home Team Auto Sales. She emphasized the significant impact the small business tax deduction has had on businesses in Nebraska. Price elaborated on the potential repercussions that the deduction's expiration could have on small businesses, emphasizing that it would affect not only businesses but also their employees and the broader U.S. economy.
Candice Price stated, “Small Businesses like ours are the foundation of the American economy. The 20% Small Business Deduction has enabled us to be able to grow our business…expand, buy equipment, and now it is enabling us to hire. If this Deduction goes away, and prices continue to climb, it can literally be the difference between a small business staying open or closing its doors forever. Congress has already given the permanent tax relief to big businesses; they must do the same for the 30 million small businesses in America.”
Candice Price encouraged small business owners to reach out to their representatives to prevent a substantial tax increase on small businesses. Full remarks from Price can be viewed online.
