Roberto Lamadrid Campuzano, a 38-year-old citizen of Mexico, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for illegal reentry into the United States following an aggravated felony conviction. The sentencing took place on August 8, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Chief Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. presided over the case and ordered that after completing his prison term, Lamadrid Campuzano will be subject to three years of supervised release. Federal law does not allow parole.
United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the conviction and sentencing. According to court records, Lamadrid Campuzano came to the attention of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) after a traffic stop conducted by Bellevue Police Department on April 4, 2025. Authorities had previously identified him as a member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13).
Special agents from HSI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) observed Lamadrid Campuzano at his residence before he arrived at a construction site in Elkhorn, Nebraska on April 10, 2025. He was arrested while leaving the work site during his lunch break and later processed administratively where his identity was confirmed.
Lamadrid Campuzano is a national of Mexico who had previously been ordered removed from the United States on October 6, 2006; he was physically removed on May 30, 2014. At the time of his recent arrest in April 2025, he did not have permission from either the Attorney General or Secretary of Homeland Security to return to the country.
On August 1, 2006, Lamadrid Campuzano was convicted in Pottawattamie County, Iowa for several felonies including Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Criminal Gang Participation, and Reckless Use of a Firearm with Serious Injury.
