Cornhusker State News, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Nebraska Public Records Law § 84-712 et seq. The request seeks access to a list of all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools in Nebraska. This includes all required courses and general instruction.
As members of the media, we at Cornhusker State News are committed to gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await the response from the Nebraska State Executive - State Board of Education regarding this request.
