Nebraska remains one of five states in the U.S. with an inheritance tax, a policy some argue reduces investments and discourages business expansion. This tax is also seen as a factor driving wealthy taxpayers out of the state.

Numerous legislative proposals aim to either reduce or completely eliminate this tax. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) advocates for changes to the current system to foster investment in Nebraska, although they express a preference for full elimination.

"Have you been affected by this tax? Do you think the elimination or reduction of this tax will help with investing in Nebraska?" poses an open question regarding public opinion on the matter.

The NFIB urges residents to engage with their state senators about reducing or eliminating the inheritance tax through available channels.
