United States Attorney Lesley A. Woods announced the sentencing of Adrian Barron-Valdez, 47, originally from Mexico, for reentering the country after being removed due to an aggravated felony conviction. On June 27, 2025, Chief United States District Court Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. sentenced Barron-Valdez in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska to 21 months in prison with no parole. After serving his sentence, he will undergo a three-year term of supervised release.

Barron-Valdez came to the attention of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the District of Nebraska on December 7, 2024, following an arrest on state charges in Omaha. He was released to ICE on December 26, 2024, after posting bond pursuant to its detainer. Following his arrest by ICE and processing at their Omaha office, fingerprint results confirmed his identity and criminal history.

A citizen of Mexico with no legal status in the United States, Barron-Valdez had been issued a removal order on December 18, 2004. He was physically removed from the U.S. six times between January 12, 2005, and November 3, 2021. Previously convicted for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on June 10, 2013, there is no record that Barron-Valdez obtained consent from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission into the U.S.

The investigation was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
